Recovery time varies. It is different for each person. Due to the fact that gastric bypass surgery is laparoscopic, this means the surgeons can make small cuts. Therefore, the recovery time is generally short. Most people stay in the hospital for 2-4 days. Surgeons recommend patients that have Lap-Band procedures to wait 1-2 weeks before returning to work or normal activities, For patients with stapled procedures such as gastric sleeve or bypass 2-4 weeks are recommended. 1. In today’s time, people all over the world are suffering in the problem of obesity and increasing weight. The biggest reason for this is considered to be the modern lifestyle and food. In this era of fast food and ready to eat food, people who do not pay attention to their food and lifestyle often have to face the problem of obesity or weight gain. Gastric bypass surgery is also done to lose weight. Through gastric bypass surgery, the stomach is made smaller and after this the stomach feels full even after eating less food. After gastric bypass surgery, whatever food you eat reaches your small intestine and pouch. This way the food you eat does not pass into the small intestine.

    • Saini,

Yes, the Roux-en-y gastric surgery comes with its own set of pros and cons. The pros are it can help people lose weight, whereas they would have to remain obese. Moreover, there are many complications of obesity such as the ones you mentioned – heart disease, diabetes, cancer, infertility, etc. These are some of the side effects. RYGS can help alleviate some of these issues.
