Comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle is counterproductive. It is best to stay focused on your own goals and stay laser-focused on your “Whys” and your “Purpose.” This is quintessential to your success.

What is your why? I am not talking about the Y in X-Y-Z. or the Y in YMCA. I am referring to your specific WHY. The WHY that craved financial freedom and independence. This is the WHY that motivated you to start school or motivated you to start your first business and is the same WHY that will keep you motivated and moving forward. The only person who can stop you from reaching your highest potential of success is YOU. Have confidence and it will happen.

Being your own boss is great. There is no one to answer to. You call the shots so to speak. But this also means there is no one to hold you accountable. This means that you have to have a plan. Here’s where the rubber meets the road. Here is where you need to implement some real self-disciple.

Setting up SMART Goals

One way to accomplish big and small tasks is to set in place your SMART goals. First, start with your short-term goals for motivation and change. Step one is to make a list of your goals for the next 90 days. Choose one goal to focus on.

Use Smart Goals for the Next 90 Days

When I first started my online business, my first goal was to focus on developing my email list and gain more subscribers. I provided a free opt-in (freebie) PDF of Brene Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfections book. You can also provide a free eBook, checklist, or free workbooks depending on your niche. This opt-in will give value to your potential customers.

Creating your freebie takes self-discipline. However, it also takes motivation and change to achieve your goals. You must hunker down and do what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like it. Another skill is to stay visible for you audience. They are the ones who will support you at the end of the day.

Visibility and Consistency is Vital

Take full advantage of Facebook, answer questions, solve problems, get involved. Start a group of your own and invite your friends, associates, and subscribers to join. Post on multiple social channels consistently. Utilize Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn Daily, weekly or bi-weekly. Leave no stones unturned. Just be consistent. Go live on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, or do Facebook and Instagram reels. Go all out. This is your time to shine. Invest in a dependable computer, tablet, or desktop.
